Synopsis

In 1967, Roger Patterson filmed 60 seconds of a bipedal creature in Northern California — the most famous Bigfoot footage ever captured. Nearly six decades later, a forgotten reel of 16mm film surfaces in a family safe, allegedly showing previously unseen moments from that day. Capturing Bigfoot follows the authentication process and gathers testimony from Patterson's son, original expedition members, and modern analysts to explore whether this new material changes the historical record or merely deepens the mystery.

The documentary traces the Patterson family's complicated relationship with the footage, the scientific scrutiny it has endured, and the cultural phenomenon it spawned. As experts debate the new reel's authenticity, the film asks what we actually want to believe — and why the legend persists.
