In a near future where hazardous air quality confines most people to virtual lives, Carol (Elizabeth Banks) — a burnt-out mother and wife — enrolls in DreamQuil, a cutting-edge digital wellness retreat promising renewal. When she returns home, she discovers her husband Gary (John C. Reilly) and daughter have been caring for "Carol 2," a lifelike android the corporation provided to fill her absence.
