Synopsis

Holofiction assembles thousands of clips from fictional films and TV series produced between 1938 and today, each depicting the Holocaust in some capacity. Through montage alone — no narration, no interviews — the film traces how specific images, compositions, and tropes have been repeated, refined, and codified across decades of cinema.

Director Michal Kosakowski's experimental approach treats this vast archive as data, revealing patterns in how mainstream storytelling has visualized genocide. The result is a critical map of cinematic memory, asking whether fiction can ever adequately represent the unrepresentable, or whether it inevitably reduces history to a set of reusable symbols.
