In the Shadows (2026)

In the Shadows follows Ramla Ali (Jasmine Jobson), who flees war-torn Somalia with her family as a child and seeks asylum in London. As a teenager, she discovers boxing but must train in secret, knowing her traditional Muslim family would disapprove. The film traces her clandestine rise through the amateur ranks, the strain of living a double life, and her historic achievements: becoming the first boxer — male or female — to represent Somalia at the 2020 Olympic Games, and later winning the first-ever professional female boxing match in Saudi Arabia.

Based on a true story, the drama explores themes of cultural expectation, gender barriers, and the personal cost of pioneering a path where none existed before.
