My Undesirable Friends: Part II - Exile (2026)

Following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, a network of independent journalists flees Moscow under mounting state pressure. Scattered across Georgia, Latvia, Germany, and the United States, they attempt to continue their work from abroad — navigating asylum systems, rebuilding editorial operations remotely, and confronting the personal costs of permanent displacement. The film observes their daily routines, professional struggles, and evolving relationships to a homeland they can no longer enter.

Shot over an extended period with minimal intervention, the documentary captures both the logistical realities of exile (visa appointments, time-zone coordination, funding crises) and its psychological dimensions: guilt, isolation, the strain on families, and the question of whether journalism can survive without a physical newsroom.
