In the early 1970s a group of Hare Krishna devotees establishes New Vrindaban on a remote West Virginia farm, envisioning a spiritual utopia. Over two decades the commune swells into a sprawling complex complete with a golden palace, attracting thousands of followers and media attention.

As the community grows, internal hierarchies harden, financial irregularities surface, and allegations of abuse trigger investigations. The documentary follows the trajectory from idealistic beginnings to legal battles that ultimately dismantle the once‑promising settlement.
