The Uprising (2026)

In 1381 England, decades of plague, war, and crushing taxation have pushed the peasantry to breaking point. When a humble ploughman (Andrew Garfield) witnesses the brutal enforcement of a hated poll tax, he joins a swelling rebellion led by the charismatic preacher John Ball (Jamie Bell) and the tactical Wat Tyler (Cosmo Jarvis). Their army of commoners marches on London, demanding an end to serfdom and the removal of corrupt ministers — forcing a confrontation with the teenage King Richard II (Woody Norman) and his advisors.

As negotiations fracture and violence escalates on both sides, the film examines the fragile mechanics of uprising: how movements form, how leaders emerge, and how quickly righteous anger can become indistinguishable from the oppression it opposes.
